The last couple weeks in the Parkour world have been filled with news. Here were the top stories.
In an announcement that shocked the Parkour world, Giles Longley, founder of The Motus Projects, announced he would be closing down his brand. Upon the announcement, Traceurs worldwide rushed to the Motus site to buy the Motus apparel. The store sold out in less than 48 hours. Giles jokingly tweeted:
Seriously. You want have the best sales weekend ever? Shut down your company.
Giles, along with Keland and Bloggy, will be joining Storror to help develop and run the Storror clothing line. Here are two podcasts headed by Giles that discuss the news in detail.
A new Parkour gym named Kiskeya has announced it will be opening in Pharr, Texas in January 2023! As far as we know, it’s the biggest Parkour gym in…. well, maybe the world! It’s 13,000 sq feet of pure madness, and the entire thing looks epic! It even appears to have recreated Vauxhall, a favorite training spot for London Traceurs in the 2000s and early 2010s that was torn down by the city.
The gym is hiring coaches, and you can apply through their website by clicking HERE. The project is being managed by famed female Traceur Lorena Abreu.
Oslo Movement has announced their list of guest athletes for OMFG 2023. The list includes an all-star line up of male and female Traceurs including Dom Di Tomaso, Lilou Ruel, Joe Scandrett, Lynn Jung, and more. The four-day event lasting from June 14th to June 18th will have workshops, discussion panels, competitions and more. Tickets go on sale January 1st.
As we published yesterday, a medical fund has been set up to support Amor and Chase Armitage. In a tragic boating accident in Mexico, Amor, wife of famed Traceur Chase Armitage, suffered life threatening lacerations on her legs and abdomen. She has undergone multiple life saving surgeries and 6 blood transfusions. She appears stable, but there is still a long road to recovery.
Chase has listed his car for sale, but the money is not enough to cover the medical costs, so a fund has been set up for people to donate. High profile members of the Parkour community have donated. If you’d like to donate you can click here.
SPL2 has been announced at the Origins Parkour gym in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada). When the event was first held almost 10 years ago, it was called “The North American Parkour Championship.” Last year the event pivoted to be run by Sport Parkour League, and the competition is now being billed as The Parkour World Championship.
SPL2 will surely be one of the most professional competitions of the year, complete with LIVE streaming and commentary. Competition categories are set to include skill, style, and speed with qualifiers taking place in the USA and Europe. The event will take place from August 17th through August 20th. The Storror Parkour Awards went live on December 26th with the 7 man Storror crew announcing their hand picked winners for 18 categories including Best Dinger, Best Fail, Best Athlete of the Year, and others. £10,000 pounds (about $12,000) was given our in prize money.
The pre-recorded video was a joy to watch and included amazing clips showcasing dozens of Traceurs. You can watch the full award show below.
