Athlete Spotlight: Interview with Michael Khedoori

We recently had the esteemed honor of interviewing rising Parkour star Michael Khedoori! If you don’t know of Michael yet, now is the time because he is one of our favorite Tracueurs in the world.

Khedoori is most known for his big leaps, insane arm jumps, and massive drops. In a recent video we shared on Instagram he did a 4 meter drop (13 feet) from an overpass like it was nothing. It was extremely reminiscent of the drop in Lisses, France done by David Belle on the TF1 feature, and just like Belle, Khedoori landed it without a roll. That’s superhuman for most people, but for Khedoori, it seems to be his day-to-day. His power and his excellently crafted social media posts has led to him amassing 130K followers on Instagram and more than 3 million followers on TikTok.

We hope to do a video interview with Khedoori soon, but for now here is our written interview with him. He’s a great guy, and we hope this inspires you to follow him and support him as he grows his career.

What is your name, age, and where are you from?

Michael Khedoori, 20, Sydney, Australia.

How did you get involved with Parkour & Freerunning, how old were you when you started, and how long have you been training?

Before parkour I used to do a type of skiing called telemarking. As I grew older I wanted to find another sport or something that I’d be interested in. I took up fencing for a little bit but didn’t like it and then I found parkour. I fell in love with it straight away and knew that I wanted to pursue it even more. I was about 15 when I started, and it’s be about 5 years since I started.

What do you call your movement/training? How often do you train?

I really enjoy hunting challenges and turning stupid ideas into a reality Hahahha.

I’d say I train almost everyday, starting at about 11am to 5pm.

What is your favorite PKFR move or technique, and why do you like it so much?

For me it changes over time depending on what aspect of parkour I’m pushing. At the moment it’s mainly working dispersing direct downwards impact and downwards arm jumps. I’d say I’m just drawn to these two techniques.

What is your favorite food, drink, or meal?

ummmmm hahaha, I gotta say I’ve been really on the subway grind at the moment. As for the drink I’d say anything that looks cool hahah

What are your favorite shows, movies, and music?

Anything Marvel pleaseeee ahhaha

Are you working on any projects at this time? If so, what?

Recently I’ve been doing quite a bit of work with drones and fpv but there’s a couple more sneaky things in the pipeline.

What advice do you have for anyone starting on the PKFR journey?

All I can say is just keep doing the things you love and always try to push out of your comfort zone.

What has been the biggest setback to your career, and what has been the biggest highlight?

so far there hasn’t been any major setbacks but I’d say the biggest highlight is being apart of the capstone Australia project.

What advice do you have for people wanting to become as adept and successful as you?

In a social media sense I’d say focus on creating and posting something new everyday. But in a parkour sense try to break a mental barrier at least once a week.

What are your favorite Instagram/social media accounts and YouTube Channels? (they do not have to be PKFR related)

Not sure hahah

How close do you think you are to reaching your full athletic potential? Do you have any weaknesses that you are working on improving?

I think I’ve definitely got a lot more to go with learning new things and getting better at some techniques, for example twists and flips is probably my biggest weakness.

Over the last year and a half how did you cope with the shutdowns and the changes brought on by COVID-19?O

Overall it hasn’t been too bad in Australia but recently it was quite hard to get out and train.

What is the most questionable thing you’ve seen or heard recently?

How do I take impact hahaha

Outside of Parkour/Freerunning, what are your favorite hobbies? How do you spend your time when you aren’t training?

Besides parkour I love videography and photography and anything creative really

Where do you want to go from here? What are your goals and what more do you want to accomplish?

Just to keep training and pushing myself

How can people be more connected with you and follow your work and career?

Just check out my Instagram or other socials and see what I’m doing!
